All IGSI programs and services are provided by volunteers, with just a few paid roles. We treasure the time and talents of our many members, friends, and neighbors who regularly help us to sustain and improve the Society. Fresh ideas, energy, and talents are welcome and essential.
Many of our volunteers serve from their homes across North America and beyond. If you are able to come to Mendota Heights you have options to help in our Library and with live events. Whether in-person or online, your talents and skills make our goals for the Society possible. Even if you can give a short time to IGSI, you will connect with a wonderful group of people.

Current Volunteer Opportunities: Training and partnership are provided!
- Technical Assistance - Assisting with reports (using Excel) and coordination to support our business processes
- Minnesota Genealogy Center - Library and office adminitrative tasks (especially Wed & 2nd Sat), and help during live events.
- Writing for Publications – Submissions are always welcome for our bimonthly newsletter and quarterly scholarly journal.
