IGSI's Periodical Indexing Project (PIP) CD-Rom

We always knew there was “gold” in the periodicals in our collection. But finding which issue had the information we wanted - that was frustrating. So we indexed the collection so anyone can find the gold.

We listed the genealogically significant articles and short entries, sorted them by location, and made them searchable by any word. The resulting index contains over 12,000 lines of data from 83 journals with issues spanning 30 years - information about the Irish in 62 countries.

The index is available three ways:

IGSI Members can access the entire database on-line in the Member’s area – Index of Periodicals.
The CD version* is part of our IGSI Library collection and available to any researcher visiting the library.
Anyone can purchase the CD version* from our Bookstore. (Cost is $12 plus shipping)

Once you find articles that interest you, you can locate them through your local library or request copies from IGSI (in person or by mail, or email) for a small fee.

Note that the IGSI collection is not complete for all issues of each periodical and not all periodicals owned by IGSI have been indexed yet.

*The database CD has both .pdf and MS Excel 97 forms of the index.
