Life and Times of John Ireland

John Ireland became the first archbishop of St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1888. A religious and civic leader in Minnesota and Washington, DC, at the turn of the century, he is best-known for his work with education and the immigration of the Irish to the Midwest. He held liberal views on church-state relations and conservative views on alcohol and political corruption.
