IGSI "Irish Days" at the Minnesota Genealogical Library

In the Minneapolis area and need research help? IGSI volunteers (experienced Irish researchers) staff the MGS / IGSI Library on the 2nd Saturdays of most months from 9 am to 3 pm.

They work directly with you -

  • Orient you to the library and the Irish collection.
  • Direct you to information sources and work with you on your specific research needs, at your request.
  • Teach beginners the tools of Basic Irish Research.
  • Show you how to use major research tools, like
    • Griffith's Valuation (the major replacement for the lost Ireland censuses up to about 1864). and
    • LDS 1880 Federal Census CDs.

Then stay for the MGS Writing Study Group (1 - 2:30 pm). Listen to how others are writing the human stories behind the facts of their family histories. Share your own knowledge, experience, and writing.

Note, the MGS Library includes U.S., Minnesota, and other ethnic collections. All resourses are available whenever the MGS / IGSI Library is open.
