The Great Island Historical Society

This society has a data base of over 10,000 people buried in the Clonmel (Old Church) Graveyard at Cobh (formerly Queenstown), including 170 of those from the Lusitania sinking. Dates from: 1698 to 1984. They will check their records free of charge (include something for postage).

This is an archival service, collecting archival materials from around County Cork. Among it's collection are the Holy Trinity Parish Registers from: 1643 - 1845. These are the oldest parish registers in Cork.

Cobh, the Queenstown Story - From: 1845 - 1960 over 2.5 million adults and children emigrated from Ireland via Cobh on coffin ships, early steamers and finally on the great ocean liners. Convict ships first sailed from Cobh in 1791 bound for Australia. (COBH is pronounced COVE) This port was called Cove/Cobh and Queenstown during the emigration times.
